AcroYoga and Slackline Intensive with Matt Eshleman & Erin Winters

August 26 to August 27

AcroYoga is a practice which blends elements of yoga, acrobatics, and Thai massage. This playful art cultivates trust and connection between partners, and is as therapeutic as it is fun. Guaranteed to be a good time, and leave you feeling open and inspired - All ages, heights, weights and levels of experience are welcome! You absolutely DO NOT need to bring a partner, but this is truly a practice to share with friends.

Slackline yoga (or slackasana) is balancing on a 1" piece of webbing lightly tensioned between two anchors. This is not easy, and doing yoga poses on it is even more challenging. Yet despite the seemingly impossible nature of the act, it is achievable by almost anyone with a little bit of perseverance, patience, and guidance under experienced teachers.

If you joined us for last year’s Acro/Slack weekend, come again - this one will be different!

Individual sessions can be taken only by those who meet all listed prerequisites.

 

Saturday August 26th

10am-noon

FUN-damentals - (2 hours - $30) This is a perfect opportunity to ease into the wide world of AcroYoga. These fundamentals are essential for quick skill progression, breaking down washing machines, and most importantly creating a safe practice. A brief warm-up will lead into partner exercises and introduce the roles of the Base, Flyer, and Spotter - and prepare for the possibility of more challenges to come, like the rest of the weekend!

Pre-reqs: courage

Completing this section will also fulfill all pre-reqs for following sessions.

 

2-4:30pm

Beyond Basics - (2.5 hours - $40) We highly recommend that participants in this session have completed FUN-damentals on Saturday, or have some other previous experience in AcroYoga. Apply the fundamental principles to more challenging poses, and level up to transitions that allow more dynamic play.

PreReqs: Base/Fly Bird 30seconds, Throne 30seconds, 5 sec per side wounded bird, or FUN-damentals

 

6-8pm

Slackline basics - (2 hours - $30) Being a Slacker isn’t easy! Discover techniques and tricks to make this challenging practice more accessible. Fundamental slack line skills will include kneeling, sitting, standing, and perhaps even walking on the line.

Pre-reqs: courage

(We will meet at Day Yoga studio and then relocate to a nearby outdoor venue. Plan B in the event of rain - Indoor slacker drills and partner conditioning!)

 

 

Sunday August 27th

10am-noon

Slackline part 2- (2 hours - $30) Build on fundamentals covered in the slackline basics session! Learn variations on basic positions, transitions between positions, inversions and arm balances, and of course more fun conditioning!

Pre-reqs: Slackline basics

(We will meet at Day Yoga studio and then relocate to a nearby outdoor venue. Plan B in the event of rain - Indoor slacker drills and partner conditioning!)

 

Sunday 2-4:30pm

Transitions - (2.5 hours - $40) Taking the art of transitioning into the flow of a “washing machine” (repeating cycle of transitions) can be much easier with experienced guidance. During this exploration of the more dynamic aspects of the art, we’ll take you a bit further down the Acro-rabbit-hole. You’ll discover abilities you never knew you had, and learn some new tricks to amaze your friends.

Pre-reqs: Base/Fly Bird 30seconds, Throne 30seconds, 5 sec per side wounded bird, or FUN-damentals

 

Sunday 6-8pm

Therapeutics - (2 hours - $30) While all the acrobatic stuff has visual appeal, there is an aspect of the partner practice that can be rejuvenating and therapeutic. Based upon Thai massage and Yin Yoga, we will practice moves that encourage connection and healing. This is time to soften and settle after a full day.

Pre-reqs: Base/Fly Bird 30seconds, Folded Leaf all day, or FUN-damentals

 

Our bio:

Matt and Erin are happy, peaceful hippies that love to spread the joy of AcroYoga. They believe that play and human connection are essential to a fulfilling life, and see AcroYoga as a way to build trust and communication with others. Their classes offer fun challenges for everyone from brand-new beginners to experienced practitioners. Their primary AcroYoga training has been with the YogaSlackers, and their on-going studies continue to explore integrating Taoist yoga to keep the art therapeutic as well as bad-ass.

*There is a $50 deposit build into the full weekend and $15 deposit for single sessions. There will be no refunds within 30 days of the start date of the workshop.
