Arm Balance Play, 10am-noon
Join us to explore basic and creative variations on arm balances, from baby crane and side plank to handstand variations, one-legged cranes, peacock feather variations, and onward. Preparations will be practiced for all so you take some airborne and stay grounded for others.
Begin with fundamental actions for keeping your spine healthy and safe as we open the chest and front of the hips. Then try some new options, using strength, props, progressive and warming sequences, and solid alignment to slowly build your mobility!
Re-hab Your Core, 3:30-4:30pm
Whatever your center is recovering from, whether it’s having a baby or years of desk work, invest in one hour to discover just the right level of core strengthening for you, right now, as you are. Special tips for core strengthening when you’re dealing with conditions such as diastasis, weakened pelvic floor, chronically tucked pelvis, excessive lordosis, scoliosis, and osteopenia.

Elizabeth Silas, E-RYT, has been teaching and loving yoga for fifteen years, both in big cities and in small towns. Her teaching addresses students’ individual alignment patterns within a sequence focused on the breath. In this way, students can safely release old patterns of moving and thinking within a vigorous practice. She is certified in Jivamukti and Ashtanga schools, and draws on many asana alignment methods as well as Pilates, exercise science, and physical therapy to inform her cueing and assisting.
