Whole Body Core at the Barre Teacher Trainingwith Elizabeth Silas, E-RYT-YA, CYT-IAYT, NPCP-PMC
Friday 6pm-8pm
Saturday 10am-6pm
Sunday 10am-6pm
In one weekend, integrate new approaches from dance, Pilates, resistance training, and yoga into your classes and private sessions. Learn how to spice up your teaching with:
-creative variations on traditional core Pilates movements, inspired by mat and machine work
-isolations and isometrics from modern, ballet, and jazz dance--targeted moves, not complicated choreography
-mobility/strength awareness and preparations for arm balances and inversions of yoga
-strength and bodyweight resistance, plus ways to turn it up to cardio interval training when you wish
-small, targeted movements that PRE-hab your body to prevent injury—because none of us should wait for injury or rehab to do these preventative and corrective moves!
Practice sequencing segments in ways that your students need and will love. Work with what you already teach (yoga, dance, Pilates, gymnastics, group fitness, or any somatic skills) and learn to slowly integrate new ways of moving and breathing into your mix!
Your training will include:
-segments and sequences for classes that can be taught as Barre, Yoga Sculpt, Yoga Pilates, Yoga Fusion, depending on which ones you choose (over 40 movements, plus regressions, progressions, and stretch/release positions)
-how to formulate effective, precise verbal cues
-optimal alignment for key positions and movements
-tips to start sequencing your own creative barre classes or mini-sequences
-fundamental anatomy for cueing and sequencing
-how to pair music to movement
-ways to inspire students and create community
-observation skills – how to really see and listen to students
-verbal adjustments for individual students (based on what you observe them doing
-making the most of props (and also going without them
– teaching barreless barre!)
-most importantly: supportive and structured teachbacks and feedback so you can practice teaching new moves and build your confidence in small, supportive groups with experienced teachers
