My experience with physical fitness spans fifty years. I encourage it to my eleven grandchildren and for my two great grandchildren. I have taught physical education at the high school level at Miami Valley School, where I was the cross country and swim coach. As part of earning my masters degree in physical education at Wright State University, I taught multiple physical education courses.
Additionally, during my thirties, forties I participated in many triathlons and other sporting events at a high level. One of the highlights was being the overall age group female winner of the Ohio Triathlon Series in 1997 and, my ultimate experience, representing the USA in Perth, Australia at the International Triathlon Championship (2000) in my age group. Of course I’ve had experience in other professions such as being a community counselor for Au Pair in America and as a realtor. But fitness has always been my first love and I have needed and earned certifications in many areas including Johnny G spinning, IDEA personal training, the American Council on Exercise, United States Water Fitness Association, Silver Splash Instructor, Silver Sneakers yoga, Aquatic Therapy and Rehabilitation Institute, Hydropilates and, most recently, Yoga certification. I still teach water aerobics, yoga and, as always, moving my body whether it be yoga, water exercise or walking – it’s been my life calling.
